All products from ecofloss are made of bioplastic from renewable raw materials. A renewable raw material is a material that comes directly from the plant kingdom, for example trees or other vegetation. Unlike fossil raw materials such as oil that are used for plastic products, renewable materials form part of the bio-based carbon cycle. They consequently do not contribute to the greenhouse effect. From a long-term perspective and provided cultivation, harvesting and manufacturing are done responsibly, renewable materials are the best alternative for single-use products. All ecofloss products and packaging materials are made of 100% biodegradable starch from corn (maize), also known as PLA (polylactic acid). We borrow the raw material from the plant kingdom and return it without causing any environmental impact. From nature back to nature.
All holders for ecofloss floss picks and the packaging are made of a cornstarch (PLA) which is a 100% renewable raw material from the plant kingdom. The material is tested, certified and fulfils the environmental requirements of various testing institutes (TÜV).
The picks are made of bioplastic and are of the same quality as competing plastic picks on the market.
The great benefits of bioplastics (PLA) are that they are made from renewable raw materials with fast new production, for example corn or sugar cane from the plant kingdom. To enable them to grow, these need carbon dioxide (CO2), which in turn reduces the harmful greenhouse gases. Switching to biobased plastics reduces dependence on fossil raw materials, principally crude oil. Living microorganisms in nature break the bioplastics down to carbon dioxide, biomass and water.
